Skulpture so narejene iz MDF-a (medium density fiberboard) in so bile ročno izsekane, brušene in prebarvane z več plastmi visoko sijajnega, pol sijajnega in brezbarvnega laka.

As with many of the works by the artist Marek Schovánek, the installation CANDYLAND / PHARMATOPIA can be seen in multiple ways. The viewers’ first impression is that of a formal approach: Various shapes and sizes and a vast field of colours used on each sculpture of the installation have a very sensual and vibrant, almost glossy commercial appeal.
Upon closer inspection each individual work reveals an imbedded “brand name”, a title engraved in the pill naming an underlying wish or fantasy that is not on the menu at your local pharmacy but more so pertains to the desire to see and live beyond ones ends and means.
The topics are a play on normal human wishes and longings, placed as models in a catalogue for impossible realities: buy metaphysics, have trust, enjoy revenge, give the pain pill. All is available as a dispensable product.
Thus the installation becomes an extension on the dream offered by modern pharmacology and a social critique of our hyper real appetites, framing a visionary chemical spirit of transcendence to overcome this earthly place and go beyond what is humanly possible and placing that at ones convenience at a moments notice.
The third narrative is given by the overall working title CANDYLAND and places the burden for ones actions on the third person, the dealer.
We abandon our primary responsibility and surrender our motives to the trust of a higher institutionalised Idealism.

The series and installation CANDYLAND is composed of over 120  works that make up the series.
The sculptures are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) and have been hand sculpted, embossed and painted with multiple layers of high gloss, semi matt and transparent layers of lacquer. The sizes are variable with most pieces being around 20 to 30 cm in circumference.
